- CREATION PRE-EVENT PRAYER
-
The pre-event prayer team is beginning to form, and we are need those that are feeling lead to start coming alongside us with prayer coverage for the event. Here are a few specific needs we will would ask that for prayer.
• That the speakers and musicians will begin to be prepared for the witness and message that He has ordained to be spoken through them.
• It is not to early to pray for good weather. That God will ordain glorious weather for the weeks ahead of, during and after the festival.
• That the hearts of those attending would be prepared to receive and act upon His words and leading at this years festival.
• Pray for a covering over the staff of creation and all those that will serve at this years festival by giving of their time and talents.
I came into Creation for my third year, second at the farm. My first I basically hung out in the air conditioned stadium and almost passed out at the main stage when I saw Pillar. My fondest memory of my first visit was when I started singing "This little light of mine" during the candlelight service and about a quarter of the stadium joined in with me. It was fun. The next year I came, I didn't once go to the fringe cause it was too far and I didn't know the bands. I remember learning about how cool it is to be in the company of just Christians, cause we are so nice to one another. This year, I came in looking for some meaning. First thing we came in, unloaded, the guys across the lawn asked us if we wanted all of their leftover taco food. You just don't meet people like that except at Creation. I felt the urge to do an act like that to impact someone elses life. I noticed that in the mosh pits everyone is considerate of one another. I am so used to not being able to get up the next morning cause of my injuries from kicks and punches. No this doesn't happen. No punches. No kicks. When someone falls, we block and someone helps them up. If someone loses a shoe, we pick it up, stop the pit and give the shoe back. It was amazing. I wound up saving this girl and her friend a few times, and once the show was over I headed back to my campsite. They followed me and asked to be my friend. When they met up with me one of the girls said that she had snapped her big toenail. I brought her back to my campsite. I washed her feet, which were covered in dirt from the pit, got out the first aid kit and I bandaged her up. I made some good friends that day that I will not forget. The next few days we hung out. I went to the speakers, and learned over 10 ways how I'm going to hell. Before then I just accepted the bible as facts rather than believing in it. It was weird. I started to think about how this could happen in the outside world. I remeber thinking about the times in the mosh pit that people were so into God there, and that we slowdanced, hugged, made friends with the security guardes, all in the mosh pit. And I wondered if God existed. This was the odd part for me. I've had myy watch for about 3 years and about 1 and a half years the alarm and hourly beep never worked. I was walking around the last night searching for my friends and I noticed that it was 23:58, so I counted down the zero hour, and when it was 0:00 the alarm went off. The next day the beeping stopped. That was the weirdest thing to happen to me. I was almost convinced into accepting. It was too unusual to be just coincidential. I was so close. Creation is heaven on earth for me. It is where Christianity really shines. Everyone can be the person that they really should be. You can be the nicest person to someone you don't even know. You don't have to know their first name. You don't need to know anything about them. You can just be nice, and it will be recieved and given back. It is wonderful. But it ended and I came home. I had to rush to my friends graduation party cause I'm one of her closest friends and she really wanted me there. I was offered alcohol, and I refused cause we were talking about underage drinking in the bus and I was still inspired by God to be more Christlike. They called me straight-edge, but I didn't care. I sat down and learned that when I was gone at Creation, one of my closest friends that I have known since elementary school, learned that she was 10 weeks pregnant and had an abortion . . . I sat there shocked. I've always been pro-choice. Let people do what they want to do as long as they have a choice. I never thought that would have happened so close to me. I don't know whether abortion is right or not, but I know that my friend just eliminated a whole possibility of a person that I would have loved to meet. I found out that my other friend enlisted into the marines and was departing for boot camp at the beginning of September. I can't stop thinking about the possibility that he will die. Marines are the front line guys. I don't want him to die, and I don't understand why someone would want to enlist into the front lines. I left the party and outside were some people that I know from school and some girls that they brought. They told me that they were high. They told me that they weren't sure whether or not they had sex with these girls. They told me that they lost their virginity in their early teens. One said she lost it when she was raped by her father's friend when she was 8. When they turned to me to ask whether or not I was a virgin, they laughed at me, made a few jokes, cause I was the only one that hadn't had sex, and I was three years older than the oldest in the group. They then went around asking whether we all had a father or not. 4 out of the 7 of us had a father. One causually said that he had recently carried his father's casket just only a few days ago, made a little joke and we left. I came home and cried for my friend in the marines. I cried about how immoral the world around me was. I cried for the guys that were high. I cried for the girls that gave up their virginity at such a young age. I cried for the girl that was raped. I cried for the fathers who never had the opportunity to be there for their sons and daughter. I wondered that if they had been around would these kids be different. But there was still my friend who had an abortion, and every time I think about it, it makes me want to cry. I've only known it for less than a day. All of this stuff I learned occured in less than 8 hours. I went from being in heaven at Creation to being in hell at home. I kept crying and started to find comfort in God. I remembered back in the mosh pit when nobody was hitting. It was the slow part of the song and we all had our one hand raised to the sky and the other a fist on our hearts. I looked at my watch and remembered how influenced I was by it when it beeped and how it no longer beeped. I think I believe. I'm not sure yet, but I know that God exists, and this world that I live in shouldn't be like this, it should be like Creation. I had this plan to be more like those people at Creation that say hi to you out of nowhere. I have this goal to do that. I have this goal to find someone and introduce myself and try to spend the day with them. My friends on the bus ride home from Creation told me that I would be shot if I did this. I wonder why?

On June 25-28, 2008 the 30th Creation Festival will be held in the Northeast. Hundreds of thousands of people have been spiritually enriched and made life-changing decisions for Christ and we give God all the glory. Many who originally came as a youth or young adult are now returning with their own children and grandchildren! By the grace of God, Creation has been passed from generation to generation as an event that God uses to touch people with His good news!
Each day is jam packed with music, teaching and activities for all ages including the hottest bands performing on our Main and Fringe stages, Creation Worships tent, seminars, climbing walls, kids activities, vendors, and more! The laid back atmosphere allows you to choose your own pace. Although there is a wide selection of musical artists to choose from each day, The Creation Festival is about much more than music. Creation is also about honoring the Word of God. Each year many fantastic speakers join us at the festival. Their seminars provide a variety of vital and relevant messages to challenge and inspire you in your relationship with the Lord.
The Creation Festival is all about changing lives and glorifying our Creator. Our prayer for at CREATION '08 is that people will be changed, restored, and challenged to serve the Lord and to make a difference in this world. Plan on joining us!
